Number of Suffolk officers who identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual rises
The number of gay, lesbian and bisexual police officers working in Suffolk has risen to more than 5%, after efforts for recruits to “reflect the wide range of people living and working in the county”. A Freedom of Information request sent to police forces in England and Wales has revealed the sexual orientation of officers in Suffolk. The data from November 2021, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, states that 94.8% of the 1,315-strong workforce in this county is heterosexual.
